Crepe Place

Last night I saw something magical, something out of this world. I don't think I will ever witness anything more amazing than what I experienced last night. I saw two dudes rock the shit out of the Crepe Place.

Two Gallants were better than the time I saw The Gaslight Anthem, or the time I saw Frank Turner or the time I saw Pearl Jam or the time I saw Patti Smith.

Last night I saw Two Gallants put on the most magical show I have ever witnessed.
I don't think that live performance will ever be matched.

June 20, 11:21PM

It's not fair that I finally meet the people I've been looking for since the day I started SJSU.
Why does this have to happen now, right before my last year of college?
Why couldn't I meet these people during my freshman year or heck, even a year earlier.
It's not fair that just when things seem to be falling in place, I start my last year of college.
Why couldn't all this happen a year ago?
Why couldn't I meet these people earlier?
Why does life have to be so cruel?

I feel like I have been punched in the gut, and all I want to do is scream out in frustration.
The fact that I can't do anything about the situation just bothers me more.
It bothers me how these things are out of my control.

Zip City

A friend of mine turned 20 yesterday, when I called him to wish him Happy Birthday, he told me about his plans for the day and it reminded me of the day when I turned 20 (only like 6months ago).

One of the things I did on my 20th birthday was go to a music store in Costa Mesa called Second Spin. They had a sale going on used CDs, I think it was like buy one-get the second half off or something. If I recall correctly, I bought six albums that day.

One of the albums I bought was Lucero's 'Nobody's Darlings.' It wasn't in my original stack of albums that I was going to buy, I couldn't find any Lucero albums on the shelfs, so when I went to pay the cashier asked me if I had found everything alright and thats when I said I was looking for something by Lucero...he helped me find the stack and the only one they had was Nobody's Darlings. Even thought I don't consider it to be my favorite album by the band, I still enjoy listening to it a great deal. There are plenty of great tracks on the album. Roy's drumming in 'Sixteen' and 'And We Fell' is amazing. 'Hold Me Close' is a song that I would consider playing at my wedding. The slow songs 'Nobody's Darlings' and 'The War' are lyrically beyond perfect to me. And of course, how can you not love 'California' when you live in the state.

It's funny how you get introduce the band. I had no idea who Lucero was until May of 2010. When I think it was either Brian Fallon or The Gaslight Anthem tweeted something like How Good is Lucero, That Good...few days after seeing that, I did some research and downloaded one of their albums. It took me a while to get into it. I was new to the alternative-country genre but after a while I grew on me. It's been little over a year since I started listening to them and I have already seen them live three times.

It's funny how bands, albums or songs remind you of a certain time. I have spent the last year listening to the band so much that now, they have become a big part of my life. I would call my third year of college as the year I fell in love with Lucero. I spent many nights last school year, laying on my futon listening to the them rather than going out on a saturday night. I don't regret any of it.

The only thing I regret is that I didn't find then earlier.

Buttercross

Well Summer Break 2011 is over for now. I start summer session tomorrow morning. Four hours of Forensic Anthropology should be fun.

I'm back in San Jose listening to the new Frank Turner album 'England Keep My Bones'. I'm glad I ordered the deluxe version, the leather cover feels nice and the bonus songs are good...Overall the album is worth 22bucks.

One of the purchases I did over break was the new Eddie Vedder album and the dvd. Here's me spending the night with my favorite singer.

Vegetarian Tacos at my favorite Mexican Restaurant And of course, can't go down to Orange County and not visit the beach

Story of my Life

Tonight I had a chance to see a true indie rock band. A band that help define the indie rock sound in the 90s.

As usual, I had tickets to the show...no ride.
No one to blame but myself for this. I'm the one without a car, I'm the one putting my hopes on people with the car. I'm the one setting myself up for the disappointment.

Right now, all I can do is hope that I don't have to wait 13 years to see this band live.

In lighter terms, here is one of my favorite songs of all-time...I really enjoyed the movie when I saw it back in eight grade. This song came on during the end credits, and made the film ten times better. It was also the first time I had heard of this band.

Night Like These

Man, I had quite a nice night tonight. It's always nice seeing a dear friend after what seems like a long time. It's even better when it's just the two of you.

I don't really have much else to say. I will add some pictures in the next couple posts and I will start my writing project once I'm back in San Jose.

hmm yeah...one of the best nights of the year. Everything just seemed perfect.
